It has been far from an ideal start to IPL 2023 for Delhi Capitals. While the side would have wanted to get off the mark in the points table as soon as possible, they have started off with a hat-trick of defeat. They succumbed to a defeat against Lucknow Super Giants in their first match while losing their home against Gujarat Titans by 6 wickets. In their third match of the season, Rajasthan Royals thrashed them by 57 runs.
Post their third consecutive loss in a row, team's chairman Parth Jindal took to social media to acknowledge what's going wrong for them so far in the season. However, he was optimistic that the side will come back stronger. He criticised the team for not enough intent with the bat after their loss against the inaugural champions on Saturday.
"3 games, 3 losses - very tough to see this @DelhiCapitals - not enough intent with the bat and execution lacking in some areas in the field - we have the belief in this bunch - let’s regroup and start fresh from Tuesday - I believe in this team. Come on Delhi," Jindal tweeted.
His remark comes after Virender Sehwag's comment who minced no words and suggested that DC skipper David Warner should stop playing if he cannot score a half-century in 25 balls. His remark had come after Warner's innings in which he scored 65 off 55 balls and just couldn't find a way to break the shackles and find some boundaries even as the required run rate kept mounting.
Sehwag advised Warner to learn something from RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal who had scored a half-century off just 25 balls in the first innings which laid the foundation for Rajasthan scoring 199.
DC would look to make amends in their next match which will also be against a side which hasn't tasted a win so far in Mumbai Indians.
