Five-time IPL champion Mahendra Singh Dhoni broke his silence on retirement ahead of Chennai Super Kings' first match in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI).

In an exclusive interview with JioHotstar, MS Dhoni dropped a cryptic hint about his IPL future, leaving fans speculating. While he didn't confirm his retirement, his words suggested that Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 could potentially be his last season - or maybe not.

CSK will drag me, even if i am on a wheelchair, says Dhoni

"I can play for as long as I want for CSK – That is my franchise. Even if I am in a wheelchair, they will drag me," Dhoni said on JioHotstar.

With every passing IPL season, fans eagerly speculate whether they are witnessing the final chapter of MS Dhoni's legendary career.

However, the former CSK captain continues to defy expectations with his comebacks. At 43, Dhoni is set to feature in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 once again - this time as an "uncapped player" for the first time in his career.

Speaking at a presser ahead of CSK vs MI IPL 2025 match, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad explained Dhoni's future in IPL.

"I think his training is very much limited to whatever he tries to achieve or whatever his role would be in the IPL. So, it is pretty much very simple, focused on trying to hit as many as sixes as possible and trying to get the right swing, trying to be in the best shape.

"That is what I think initially he was trying to do and then I never thought he was out of shape. If you see now, even Sachin Tendulkar is batting (in the Master's league) as great as he is right now at the age of 50. So, I think there are still many years to go (for Dhoni)," he noted.
