Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni opts to bowl first against Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League final
"Would've bowled first as well, but my heart wanted to bat so I don't mind losing the toss. We spoke that it is something out of our control (weather). Whichever team plays better will have their hands on the trophy. I like keeping the boys cool, and they repay me. It's a flat track (what he makes of the pitch?). Same team."
"We'll bowl first with the rain forecast being around. Yesterday we were in the dressing room. As a cricketer you always want to play. It was the crowd that suffered the most. Hopefully we can entertain them. Pitch has been under cover for a long time, but throughout the tournament the pitch has behaved well over here. Quite happy it will be a 20-over game we'll be playing. Serves justice to the tournament like this. Same team."

Hello and Welcome to our live coverage of the IPL 2023 final between CSK and GT. What a tournament this has been and we are sure to have a fitting finale to what has been a superb event already.
Background
After 73 matches, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 has come back a whole circle as the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the same two teams who met in the tournament opener, face off in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The two sides have been the best teams in the competition and finished first and second in the league stage before making it through to the finals.
Each of these teams have their own sets of strengths. While GT have an in form opener in Shubman Gill, who has just taken his form to a completely different level, becoming only the fourth batter to enter the 800-run club in a season, they also boast of having the three highest-wicket takers of the season in Mohammed Shami, Rashid Khan and Mohit Sharma. More importantly, each of the these three bowlers bowls at a different time of the innings means CSK batters will have their task cut out against them. They also have a better head-to-head record against Chennai which stands at 3-1.
On the other hand, Chennai too have their strengths with an in-form opening pair to start their proceedings with the bat in Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Meanwhile, their bowling is not too weak either with Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar doing the job for them. Their main concern would be the batting form of Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu and they would expect more from them should they be required to chip in with the bat. While GT have a better head-to-head record, it is CSK who won the Qualifier 1 between the two teams. Moreover, they also are the well-rested unit, having last played a match on May 23.
All things considered, this should be a cracker-jacker of a game but with a home advantage and a better record at this venue for GT in recent games, Hardik Pandya and Men might have a bit of an edge heading into this summit clash.
