One of the most successful franchises in the history of the Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings, is looking to acquire yet another team, purchasing the Texas franchise which participates in USA 's Major League Cricket (MLC). The news was hinted at by the four-time IPL winners on their official social media handle.

"Show some yellove to our NRI cousin, @TeamTexasMLC ! 🤠 #HowdyTexas #MajorLeagueCricket,' it tweeted after an earlier tweet  which had said that a major announcement will be made soon.

It is pertinent to note that the MLC competition will witness as many as six teams- San Francisco Unicorns, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle Orcas and Washington DC other than Texas who fight it out for ultimate glory. This year the tournament is set to kick off on July 13.

Texas isn't the only team in MLC that has been acquired by an IPL franchise. Earlier, Delhi Capitals also bought a stake in the Seattle team as the IPL teams are keen on broadening their football in the T20 ecosystem. The co-owners of the Delhi franchise, GMR Group, partnered with investors including Microsoft's Satya Nadela to get a stake in MLC's Seattle side.

Other than the abovementioned IPL teams, it was also being claimed that the Kolkata Knight Riders might have bought the Los Angeles side while Mumbai Indians were interested in New York franchise.

As far as the immediate future is concerned, the franchises will have their eyes on IPL 2023 which is knocking at the door with the cash-rich league set to commence on March 31. It will be the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Gujarat Titans in the first match of the season at the world's largest cricket stadium at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
