IPL 2022 mega auction sold players list: The mega auction for IPL 2022 has begun in Bangalore where all 10 teams are betting on players. The fate of 600 players is at stake in this year's auction. Senior opener Shikhar Dhawan was the first in marquee players list to go under the hammer and hence got a big advantage!
While Dhawan made some big gains, Aussie Test skipper Pat Cummins was sold at half the price compared to last year's auction. India's flamboyant batter Shreyas Iyer has been bagged by Kolkata Knight Riders and it is also expected that he might be handed the captaincy duty as well.
1. Shikhar Dhawan: The senior opener triggered a fierce bidding war. Dhawan, who scored 587 runs from 16 IPL games last year, was bagged by Punjab Kings for Rs 8.25 crore. Dhawan had entered the auction with a base price of 2 crore. Earlier, he was part of the Delhi Capitals team, where he was getting a fee of Rs 5.2 crore. Dhawan gained a benefit of 3.05 crores in his annual IPL salary.
2. R Ashwin: The veteran spinner too has triggered a bidding war in this year's auction. He had entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Rajasthan Royals acquired him for Rs 5 crore. The off-spinner was earlier associated with Delhi Capitals.
3. Pat Cummins: Kolkata Knight Riders successfully retained the star speedster for Rs 7.25 crore. Cummins had entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. In the previous auction, KKR had bagged Cummins for a whopping bid of Rs 15 crore 50 lakhs.
4. Kagiso Rabada: The African pace bowler, who played for Delhi Capitals last year, has now been acquired by Punjab Kings for a hefty amount of Rs 9.25 crore after an intense bidding war.
5. Trent Boult: The former leading bowler of the infamous bowling attack of Mumbai Indians will now be seen bowling for Rajasthan Royals this season. RR have included the Kiwi speedster for Rs 8 crore.
6. Shreyas Iyer: The star batter was expected to fetch a big amount this season and the same was seen in today's auction. After some fierce bidding, Kolkata Knight Riders added him to their team by paying Rs 12.25 crore.
7. Mohammed Shami: The right-arm star pace bowler has been acquired by Gujarat Titans in IPL 15 mega auction. The franchise paid an amount of Rs 6.25 crore for Shami. The senior speedster had entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. If we look at Shami's IPL career so far, he has picked 79 wickets off 79 IPL games.
8. David Warner: Warner had entered the IPL auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals engaged in a bidding war for him. The left-handed Aussie batter was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore.
9: Faf du Plessis: After a bidding war, Faf was finally acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB bagged the South African veteran for Rs 7 crore. Faf, ending a long association with MS Dhoni-led CSK, now joins RCB.
10. Quinton de Kock: One of the most valuable wicket-keepers in IPL auction, Quinton de Kock has been acquired by Lucknow Supergiants for Rs 6.75 crores. For the last three seasons, de Kock was a part of Mumbai Indians.
