New Delhi: Indian cricket team's former skipper Virat Kohli's journey in international cricket has been nothing but phenomenal. The RCB legend, regarded as of the finest batters of his generation, has driven a culture of fitness, energy, and ambition within the national team. His obsession with a healthy lifestyle and fitness has inspired fans and players all over the world. It can be easily said that Virat is not just a cricketing icon but also a fitness icon and is up there with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lebron James.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted a video via its official YouTube channel in which Virat Kohli can be seen sweating it out in the gym. In the video, RCB's conditioning and strength coach Shanker Basu elaborated on Virat's fitness regime ahead of the T20 World Cup.

"What excites me is he comes like a child even today. What I saw in him when he was 19 or 20, in fact the enthusiasm has not come down even that 1 percent. In fact, it has only gone up. The drive and that steely resolve he has got are so inspiring," Basu said in the video.

"Can't actually do the same thing over and over again. The program has to change. Every year, we need to start tweaking. Track what's needed and evolve accordingly.

"There's nothing much. Keep doing the simple things, boring things consistently, that's the mantra. Eat well, sleep well and train well and repeat."

Basu explained that Virat's focus is mainly on building mass muscle ahead of his busy cricketing schedule.

"Virat is mainly... we are trying to build muscle mass. T20 also requires a lot of explosive energy; force production is a byproduct. It's a mandatory thing for him to be strong. You also have the World Cup round the corner. So obviously, it's a long-distance call as well as a short-distance call," Basu said.
