New Delhi: Clinical bowling spells from Trent Boult (2/30) and Yuzvendra Chahal (4/41) helped Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by three runs in a last-over thriller at Mumbai's Wankhede cricket stadium on Sunday. With this win, Rajasthan has moved to the top spot in IPL 2022 points table.


Earlier, a remarkable 59-run knock from Shimron Hetmyer powered Lucknow Super Giants to 165/6 in their allotted 20 overs at Wankhede. Lucknow won the toss and asked Rajasthan to bat first. RR was off to a good start with openers Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler keeping the scoreboard ticking at a good pace.


Avesh Khan got the big breakthrough for his team by taking out in-form Jos Buttler for 13 as Rajasthan lost their first wicket for 42. Sanju Samson, the new man in, then staged a solid comeback with Devdutt Padikkal to help RR go past the 50-run mark.


Jason Holder departed Samson for 13 to push RR on backfoot. Rajasthan in the next few overs lost the wickets of Padikkal and Rassie Van der Dussen for 29 and 4 runs respectively. They were now reeling at 67/4.






Hetmyer scored his fifty off just 33 balls to help Rajasthan score 150-plus. In the 20th over, RR scored 16 runs to post 165/6 in 20 overs.
