New Delhi: A sensational spell from Aussie speedster Josh Hazlewood, following a remarkable half-century from skipper Faf du Plessis powered Royal Challengers Bangalore to a sensational 18-run win over Lucknow Super Giants at DY patil stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won the toss and invited Bangalore to bat first. A captain's knock from Faf du Plessis (96 runs) helped RCB post a respectable 181/6 against Lucknow. The Bangalore-based franchise was off to a poor start as Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chammera bagged two early wickets in the first over to put Lucknow on top.

The third batter to take the field was Virat Kohli. Fans had great expectations from the senior batter and a heroic knock was expected from the ex-India skipper to pull his team back into the match. However, the stadium saw a pin-drop silence when Virat was dismissed by Chammera for a golden duck.

Virat Kohli registered his first IPL duck in five years.

As wickets kept on falling, captain Faf du Plessis continued to score runs from one end.
