New Delhi: Australia's David Warner, whose name was included in the list of 'marquee players' for the IPL 2022 mega auction, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore. The left-handed star opener returned back to Delhi after a long nine year gap.
As Warner's journey with the IPL 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad came to an end, he took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post for Kane Williamson, adding that he'll 'miss playing cricket with his brother.'
Warner and Williamson shared a dressing room together for a few years as the duo played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. However, the SRH management suddenly removing Warner as skipper last year meant he wasn't retained by the franchise ahead of IPL 15's mega auction. It was Williamson who replaced Warner as the new SRH skipper then. Last season, Warner could play only eight matches and scored just 195 runs.
Warner shared a series of photos with Williamson on Instagram and captioned the post as: "Going to miss my breakfast time with the Williamson's and I will miss playing cricket with you brother."
For the IPL 2022 mega auction, Warner had kept his base price at Rs 2 crore.
Talking about David Warner's IPL career, he has played 150 matches so far and has scored 5449 runs at an average of 41.59. During this, the star batter scored four tons and 50 half-centuries.
Warner had started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) and continued to play for the franchise from 2009 to 2013. In 2009, he could not make his debut but in 2010, Warner got a chance to play his first IPL match.
