New Delhi: Team India registered a historic series win over Australia Down Under. This victory is considered among one of the most memorable victories in the history of Indian cricket. Ajinkya Rahane-led team India had then managed to attain a series win after their couple of players were injured and were bowled out for their lowest Test score in Test cricket in the series opener.
Mohammed Siraj had bowled exceptionally well in Australia. He picked 13 wickets in the three Tests he played and his bowling average was less than 30. Not only this, Siraj also took a five-wicket haul in the final Test at Brisbane and became a national hero overnight.
Ever since making his debut in India's Australian tour, Siraj has become a permanent member of India's bowling attack in red-ball cricket.
Recalling the memorable series, Siraj recalled what Virat Kohli told him after his return from Australia last year. He said that Kohli told him that what he has done in Australia is an incredible achievement.
Talking on the RCB Podcast, Siraj said, "Virat Kohli told me something I'd never be able to forget. After returning from Australia, he said 'Miyan, well bowled, what you've done in Australia is unbelievable. Nobody will be able to forget what you've done there. Keep at it and keep your focus on fitness and keep putting in the hard work."
27-year-old Siraj is one of the three players retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. RCB retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj ahead of IPL 15 auction.
While Kohli will be given a salary of Rs 15 crore, Maxwell and Siraj will get Rs 11 crore and Rs 7 crore respectively. Siraj has played 50 matches in IPL so far and has taken 50 wickets at an average of 28.74.
