New Delhi: Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchises in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL), are officially out of the IPL 2022 playoffs race after eight consecutive losses this season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the second most successful franchise in IPL, on Monday, suffered their sixth defeat. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the winners of five and four IPL titles, respectively, but this season both the teams have disappointed their fans.

Let's understand the full equation as to how CSK can still make it to the IPL 2022 playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings have won two out of eight matches they have played in the IPL so far. After this, CSK has four points, while their net run rate is -0.538.

CSK still has six more matches to play. If they win all their remaining games, they will gain 16 points. CSK will not only have to win all their remaining matches in IPL 2022 but also have to keep an eye on the net run rate.

16 points could be enough for Chennai Super Kings to make it to the IPL 2022 playoffs. CSK need to not lose a single match now and also improve their net run rate.

Apart from this, CSK will also have to keep an eye on the results of the rest of the teams. CSK are the defending champions but they haven't played like one this season. Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is leading CSK after MS Dhoni stepped down from the role.
