New Delhi: The Ahmedabad IPL team have announced their official name ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The Ahmedabad franchise, owned by CVC Capital Partners, have picked 'Ahmedabad Titans' as their official name, InsideSport reported. There is no official confirmation on this yet. 


The players' auction for this year's IPL is slated to take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13. The addition of two new teams, Ahmedabad and Lucknow, have made the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament a 10-team affair.


Ahmedabad's fellow newcomer Lucknow have already announced their name and official logo to the fans. Ahmedabad IPL team have already confirmed their draft picks and support staff for IPL 2022 and are expected to confirm their crest and official name anytime soon.


Lucknow IPL team, officially named as Lucknow Super Giants, is owned by RG Sanjeev Goenka Group, while the Ahmedabad-based IPL team is owned by CVC Capitals.


Ahmedabad have signed all-rounder Hardik Pandya (Captain), Afghanistan leggie Rashid Khan and young batter Shubman Gill as their three draft picks. Pandya and Khan have earned a contract of Rs 15 crore, while the franchise shelled out Rs 8 crore for Shubman Gill.


Last year, Sanjiv Goenka-owned RPSG group had purchased the Lucknow IPL team for a whopping amount of Rs 7090 Crores. The other new team, set to make its debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is Ahmedabad who were bought by CVC Capital Partners for Rs 5635 Crores.


Names of teams for IPL 2022: Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad Titans (yet to be officially confirmed) will be part of IPL 2022.
