New Delhi: Mumbai Indians are all set to take on Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Phase 2 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Mumbai have so far totally dominated Kolkata in IPL so far as the defending champions have won 22 IPL games against Kolkata, while Kolkata have registered only six wins against Mumbai, till date.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma's batting record has been exceptionally good against Kolkata Knight Riders. If Rohit gets picked in today's playing XI against Kolkata and scores 18 or more runs, he will attain a unique milestone. The star opener will become the first-ever batsman in IPL to reach the 1000 run-mark against any one specific opponent in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In the IPL, Rohit has so far scored 982 runs against Kolkata and four times has been adjudged as the Man of the Match against the same franchise. When it comes to matches between Mumbai and Kolkata, Rohit holds the record for winning the most Man of the Match awards. After him, comes Sachin Tendulkar and Hardik Pandya in the elite list. Both have won the Man of the Match award three times each in MI vs KKR IPL matches.
Rohit Sharma was not picked in Mumbai's playing XI for MI vs CSK IPL 2021 Phase 2 game, in which Mumbai had to face defeat against Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs.
If reports are to be believed, Rohit is fully fit to play today's game against Kolkata and will open the innings with Quinton de Kock in place of Anmolpreet Singh.
