New Delhi: The journey of defending champions Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Phase 2 is over. The Blue Brigade did register a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, but could not complete the impossible task of securing a win by 171 runs.

After 2018, Mumbai Indians have not succeeded to reach the playoffs. Mumbai's performance in the UAE leg was quite disappointing and the team could win just three matches. After being knocked out of IPL 2021, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma has posted a special message for his teammates to encourage them.

Rohit Sharma wrote on his Twitter, "A season full of ups, downs & learnings. But these 14 matches won’t take away the glory this incredible group achieved over the last 2-3 seasons. Every player who don the blue & gold played with pride & gave his best. And that’s what makes us the team we are! ONE FAMILY @mipaltan"

Mumbai's batsmen put in full force to put up their biggest, best score so far in IPL history. Mumbai scored 235/9 on the back of stormy innings of Ishan Kishan (84) and Suryakumar Yadav (82). However, to make it to the last four and secure a playoff spot, Mumbai had to bowl out Hyderabad for just 65 runs.

Batting first, Ishan Kishan hammered a lot of fours and sixes to scored his fifty off just 16 balls to help Mumbai cross the 100-run mark in just 8 overs.  Suryakumar Yadav also wreaked havoc in the death overs to score 82 runs off just 40 balls.
