Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 13 runs on Saturday. MI's hard-hitting all-rounder Kieron Pollard was instrumental in the victory of Mumbai as the tall flamboyant batsman hammered two sixes off the last two balls of Mumbai's innings to help them put a decent 150-run total on board. With this, Pollard also managed to become the sixth player to hit more than 200 sixes in the history of IPL.
Kieron Pollard came out to bat when his team Mumbai Indians were in a very difficult position against Sunrisers Hyderabad and went on to score an unbeaten 35 runs off 22 balls. Pollard's innings included three huge sixes and a four. After the match got over, Pollard admitted that the runs scored by him in the last over played an important role in Mumbai's thrilling victory.
Kieron Pollard becomes sixth player in IPL history to hit 200 sixes: Pollard had 198 sixes in the IPL before the start of IPL 2021. The MI star all-rounder has become the sixth player in IPL history to hit more than 200 sixes after hitting three sixes against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday.
West Indies' star player Chris Gayle, who is playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021, holds the record for hitting most sixes in the history of IPL. Chris Gayle has hit 351 sixes in IPL.
"I think the situation dictates who comes first, we are all padded up and whenever we're called on, we're ready. There's no secret. We have to find a way and again in the back end getting those extra runs helped us.
"It's very difficult to adjust on this pitch when you only have a couple of balls, but that's what we train for. It's good when you scrap the victories, it gives you confidence," Pollard said after receiving his Player of the Match award.
