New Delhi: A cautious and well-planned hard-fought knock from Shubman Gill, following a spirited bowling performance from bowlers powered Kolkata Knight Riders to a 6-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Shubman scored  57 runs off 51 balls with help of 10 boundaries. After winning the toss, Hyderabad decided to bat first and scored only 115 runs for 8 wickets, which Kolkata achieved by losing 4 wickets with two balls to spare. This is Kolkata's sixth win in 13 matches and they remain at number four in the IPL 2021 Points Table with 12 points.

Chasing the target, Kolkata did not have a very god start as their most dependable batsman Venkatesh Iyer got out for just 8 and Rahul Tripathi managed to score just 7 runs. KKR lost 2 wickets for just 38 runs. After this, Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana added 55 runs for the third wicket. Gill today scored his first fifty of IPL 2021. Dinesh Karthik and skipper Eoin Morgan remained unbeaten.

Making his debut in IPL and for Hyderabad, Jammu and Kashmir's 21-year-old fast bowler Umran Malik impressed the world with his quick bowling as the young speedster bowled a 151kmph delivery - fastest bowl by an Indian bowler in IPL 2021. He failed to get a wicket but gave away 27 runs in his four overs, which was quite impressive for such a young bowler. Umran played just the second T20 match of his career. He has taken one wicket in a List 1 match and has never played any first class match.

Earlier, after winning the toss, the decision of Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first turned out to be a nightmare for them. SRH could score a paltry 115 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Skipper Kane Williamson scored the maximum 26 runs for his team. Apart from this, Abdul Samad contributed with 25 runs.  Tim Southee, Shivam Mavi and Varun Chakraborty bagged 2 wickets apiece for KKR.
