New Delhi: Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is nearing a big milestone in the first match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Phase 2. If Rohit Sharma manages to hit three sixes against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in today's match, he'll become the first Indian batsman to hit 400 sixes in T20 cricket for India.


Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title record-breaking five times and he's the most successful captain in the history of the tournament. In the first phase of IPL 14, when both teams clashed against each other, Mumbai Indians had emerged victorious against Chennai Super Kings.


So far in T20 cricket, Rohit Sharma has hit a total of 397 sixes. Only four players from India have hit more than 300 sixes in T20 cricket.  After Rohit, Suresh Raina has hit 324 sixes, followed by Virat Kohli (315 sixes). CSK skipper MS Dhoni has hit 303 sixes.


Rohit Sharma has hit 224 sixes in IPL out of total 397 sixes in his T20 career. In IPL, Rohit has hit 173 sixes for Mumbai Indians and the remaining 51 sixes of his IPL career came in the first three seasons of IPL, when he used to play for Deccan Chargers. The star opener has played for India, India A and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.


Batsmen who have hit the most sixes in T20 cricket: Self-proclaimed 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle of West Indies tops the list of hitting most sixes in T20 cricket with 1042 sixes. He is followed by Kieron Pollard at number two with 755 sixes. In third place is Andre Russell, who has hit a total of 509 sixes in T20 cricket. Rohit Sharma is at 8th place in the elite six-hitting list.
