Rajasthan Royals got their IPL 2020 campaign off to a winning start as they registered a 16-run win over 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan clinched their tournament opener against CSK in a high scoring encounter which saw a real spectacle of power hitting by batsmen on either sides.

The CSK vs RR encounter in IPL 2020 played out at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sept 22 witnessed a staggering 33 sixes hit out of the park, tying the record for the most number of sixes struck in an IPL match. For the record, the RCB vs CSK match played in the 2018 edition of the IPL also witnessed 33 sixes being hit at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in April, 2018.

While Sanju Samson and skipper Steve Smith spearheaded the six hitting spectacle for Rajasthan Royals, Proteas import Faf Du Plessis and the hard hitting Mahendra Singj Dhoni smoked some gigantic  maximums out of the park during CSK's run chase at Sharjah.

Batting first, Sanju Samson played one of the most destructive IPL innings of all time, tonking 9 sixes en0route his blistering 74-run knock of just 32 deliveries. RR skipper Steven Smith emulated he efforts of his younger partner Samson by clearing the ropes with 4 monstrous sixes..The icing on the cake was provided by tailender Jofra Archer who smoked 4 sixes off Lungi Ngidi in the last over of the RR innings.

Chasing a herculean 217-run target Rajasthan Royals had to go hammer and tongs from ball one to have any chances of scaling this humongous total. Opener Shane Watson led the chase hitting four sixes in his quick-fire 33 off 21 balls.

Faf Du Plessis who took his time to settle in, changed gears after a slow start to smash 7 sixes in his 37-ball 72 runs..With a near to impossible 38 runs required off the last over, CSK skipper MS Dhoni showcased a glimpse of his vintage six hitting prowess as he hit Tom Curran for 3 consecutive sixes in the last over of the game.
