Bijapur (Chhattisgarh) [India], April 12 (ANI): Two promising softball players from tribal region of Chhattisgarh will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14 (Saturday).

Sunita Hemla and Aruna Poonam, belonging to Naxal-affected Bijapur district, will be representing India at global level during the Seventh Asian Junior Championships, Philippines.

The 15-year-old athletes spent their early life by cutting wood and later joined the Bijapur Sports Academy to get professional training in the game.

Speaking about them, their coach Sopaan told ANI, "When the girls joined the academy in May last year, their game was mediocre, but then they worked exceptionally hard. Their improvement in the game left everyone amazed."

Sopan further informed that the two girls were selected for the Seventh Asian Junior Championships from 70 softball players all over the country.

After meeting the Prime Minister this Saturday, Sunita and Aruna will leave for Philippines on May 8, along with 18 other players. (ANI)
