PV Sindhu Reaches Indonesia Open Quarter-Finals: India's star shuttler PV Sindhu has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Women's singles competition of Indonesia Open Super 1000 2021 on Thursday after an easy win over Germany's Yvonne Li in the women's singles second-round clash.

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, one of the favourites to win the tournament, was up against Yvonne Li for the first time and yet she performed remarkably well and won the match 21-12, 21-18 in just 37 minutes. The victory marked Sindhu's entry in the quarter finals. Sindhu's quarter-final match will now be against the winner of match between Sim Yu-Jin of South Korea and Beatriz Corrales of Spain.

The two players played well after the initial exchange in the first game but Sindhu took command right from the very beginning of their match. In the meantime, Sindhu maintained a lead of two points by scoring 6-4 and took the first game by 21-12. World No. 7 dominated her opponent as in first set she had won seven back-to-back points.

In the second game, Yvonne Li showed some signs of recovery as she was trying hard to pull herself back into the game by getting closer to Sindhu in terms of points. However, Hyderabad's 26-year-old Sindhu did not let her opponent gain any momentum and easily won her second game to cruise to quarters of the Indonesia Open Super 1000.
