New Delhi: The Indian cricket team's unbeaten World Cups streak against Pakistan was broken during the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Pakistan on Sunday defeated India by 10 wickets in the Group stage match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. Batting first, India scored 151 runs for loss of seven wickets. The Indian bowlers could not get a single Pakistani batsman out as openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam stitched a solid 152-run stand to power their team to a historic win.
Sadly, India's senior speedster Mohammed Shami is now being targeted on social media. Some ungrateful people took to Twitter and Instagram to pass on some derogatory comments against the speedster. Reacting to the unpleasant scenario, many former and current India players have now backed Shami.
"When we support #TeamIndia , we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11 is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have. I stand behind Shami and Team India," Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.
Earlier, former India openers Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harbhajan Singh also supported Shami by giving a befitting reply to those who made petty comments on him.
"The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and Anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa," Sehwag tweeted.
"Even I was part of #IndvsPak battles on the field where we have lost but never been told to go to Pakistan! I’m talking about Flag of India of few years back. THIS CRAP NEEDS TO STOP," Irfan Pathan tweeted.
The trolls did not also spare skipper Virat Kohli as he was too subjected to abuse on social media.
