Team India hoists Indian national flag in Zimbabwe: The Indian cricket team is currently touring Zimbabwe for a three-match One-Day-International series, starting August 18. On Independence Day 2022, the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign took the entire nation by storm. Many influencers, politicians, and celebrities followed the viral trend of changing their social media profile pictures to that of the Indian national flag and even hoisted national flags in their homes to celebrate India's 75 years of Independence.
Staying true to the campaign, team India hoisted the national flag in Zimbabwe's Harare city, where all three ODIs will be played. The Men in Blue, who are away from home on national duty, hoisted the national flag in the premises of the hotel they were staying in.
BCCI took to Twitter to share a picture from the celebrations featuring coach VVS Laxman, captain KL Rahul and vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan.
Skipper Rahul, on his Instagram story, shared video of a flag being hoisted in his hotel room, while Dhawan, shared a video of himself saying, "Independence Day is very close to my heart because our freedom fighters and several other people sacrificed their lives to help our country achieve freedom and I always pay gratitude towards them in my heart. Very grateful that because of them, our country is free. My wish is to see this country progress further and I wish everyone happy independence day."
Team India is missing some big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, and injured Jasprit Bumrah for the Zimbabwe ODIs. Shikhar Dhawan was initially named captain when the team for Zimbabwe ODIs was announced but later he was replaced by fit-again KL Rahul, while Dhawan was demoted to vice-captain.
