New Delhi: Team India is slated to play a limited-overs series of three ODIs and five T20 matches in the Caribbean and America from 22 July to 7 August against the West Indies. As per a report in Cricbuzz, some regular players of the Indian limited team are likely to be rested for the eight-match series against West Indies later this month. The names of the players who will be rested for the Windies tour have not been disclosed yet, but it is being reported that only senior players can be rested.

According to a Cricbuzz report, the teams for the West Indies tour were to be announced in the last few days, but it got delayed as the national selectors are yet to decide on other issues. Selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma, who is traveling with the team to England, is expected to interact with players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant after the final day of the Edgbaston Test.

With coach Rahul Dravid having worked with many captains in his short stint so far, the selectors will hardly think of a new captain. After taking a break from the South Africa series after the IPL, Rohit was ruled out of the Edgbaston Test after testing Covid positive. Rohit will now play a limited over series against the English team, so the chances of him getting a break from the Windies tour are slim. This means that Rohit will be the captain in T20 and ODI series against Windies.

Team India has to play a limited-overs series against England from July 7, the entire team is in Southampton but head coach Rahul Dravid is in Birmingham with the Test team. The players playing the Test match against England will miss the first T20, while coach Rahul Dravid will also take charge from the second match.
