Indian cricket team's star spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and K Gowtham have tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus in Sri Lanka, three days after all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19.
"Unfortunately, they have tested positive. They were close contacts of Krunal and were already away from the rest of the squad in the team hotel," a source told ANI.
Krunal Pandya had tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday after which eight Indian players -- Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Manish Pandey, Ishan Kishan, and K Gowtham were identified as close contacts.
These eight Indian players were then asked to not participate in the last two India vs Sri Lanka T20I matches and were staying away from the rest of the Indian team.
Sri Lanka finally registered their first series win in the year 2021 by defeating India by seven wickets in the final T20I. Mickey Arthur, the coach, looked extremely happy, especially, by the performance of his bowlers.
Leg spinner Hasaranga picked up 4 wickets and the rest of the bowlers also performed well. Indian batsmen kept on losing wickets. India was 36/5 at one point in the match.
India's batting performance was so poor that a number seven batsman Kuldeep Yadav was India's top scorer in the third T20I with 23 runs. India played a very young side, with batsmen like Gaikwad, Padikkal, Samson and Rana formed the top order of India's batting.
These youngsters failer to shine in the last two T20Is, which means that the young Indian boys need to buckle up as they have bigger boots to fill.
