Team India is all set to lock horns with Sri Lanka in their first international match of 2023. The Blues will take on the visitors in first match of three-match T20 series on January 3. Team India's stand-in T20 International skipper Hardik Pandya has revealed a special new year resolution for 2023.
Last year was quite tough for Hardik as he was struggling with injuries and dismal form. Hardik was held responsible by fans for India's heartbreaking exit from T20 World Cup group stage. However, the flamboyant all-rounder made an inspiring India comeback last year and after being released from Mumbai Indians, powered Gujarat Titans to their first-ever win in IPL 2022.
ODI World Cup 2023 is to be played on Indian soil in October-November. Hardik said his New Year's resolution is to win the 50-over World Cup.
“The New Year's resolution is to win the World Cup. I don’t think there can be any bigger resolution than that. Our aim will be to win the World Cup and we will try to do that. We will go out there and give everything and things are looking bright," said Hardik.
He revealed that winning the 2023 ODI World Cup for team India is his ultimate goal coming into the new year.
"Obviously, one year back, things were quite different. It was my call to go out and get better and it has been a magical year for me. Obviously, we would have liked to win the T20 World Cup but that is part and parcel. It did not happen and that’s alright,” Pandya said in the pre-match press conference.
“Going forward, what do I want to achieve? There’s a lot to achieve. I haven’t achieved anything in my career. So, looking forward to the future and the goal is going to win the World Cup,” he added.
