New Delhi: Team India, aiming to attain a 2-0 clean sweep over Sri Lanka, faced tough competition from the visitors. On Day 1 of the ongoing Day-Night Pink Ball Test between the two teams at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, the hosts were restricted to 252 in their first innings.

The Sri Lankan spin duo of Lasith Embuldeniya and Jayawickrama shared 6 wickets between them while Dhananjaya de Silva bagged the priced wicket of Virat Kohli.

India was put in a spot of bother by the Lankan bowlers as they lost four key batters in the form of Mayank Agarwal (4), Rohit Sharma (15), Hanuma Vihari (31), and Virat Kohli (23) into the Tea break.

In-form Shreyas Iyer had come out to bat when India was tottering at 86/4. His counter-attack knock (92 runs off 98 balls) rescued India and helped them post a respectable total. Sadly, the batter narrowly missed out on a ton, by just 8 runs.

When the right-handed batter was unbeaten at the crease on 44, Iyer hammered a colossal six to bring up his half-century in style. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
