India vs South Africa ODI Series: The Indian cricket team is slated to play a T20 and ODI series at home against South Africa and Australia before flying to Australia for the T20 World Cup 2022. Before the T20 World Cup, team India's senior players will most likely be rested for series against South Africa and Australia. As per a report in InsideSport, senior Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan can once again be seen leading the national team for ODI series against South Africa.


Also, VVS Laxman might take charge of the team during Ind vs SA ODIs in absence of regular head coach Rahul Dravid. Apart from the T20 series with South Africa, India has to play a three-match ODI series against Proteas and Dhawan will reportedly captain team India in the ODI series.

“Yes, it is not ideal to have an ODI series before T20 World Cup. But that is how it goes sometimes. Rohit, Virat and all T20 World Cup-bound players will be rested from the ODI series. They will get a short break before departing for Australia. Shikhar will lead the side,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.


South Africa will play a three-match ODI series on their tour of India from 6 to 11 October. The team will also play a three-match T20 series on the India tour from 28 September to 4 October.
