New Delhi: KL Rahul-led Indian cricket team won the toss and opted to bat first on Day 1 of India vs South Africa 2nd Test being played at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. Team India's regular Test skipper Virat Kohli has been rested for the second Test due to a back spasm issue.
In Kohli's absence, KL Rahul has been given the command of the national squad against Proteas. During the toss, Rahul revealed that Kohli is not playing Ind vs SA 2nd Test due to back problem and that he he'll recover soon to play in the third and final Test.
Virat Kohli, in his Test career so far, has played 98 Test matches and if he had played Ind vs SA 2nd Test in Johannesburg, it would have been his 99th Test, while the third and final Test of Ind-SA Test series would have been his 100th Test match.
Unfortunately, after being ruled out of the second Test, Virat Kohli won't be able to play his 100th Test in the India -South Africa series. The third test match between India and South Africa will be played in Cape Town from January 11 to 15. Virat will now have to wait for his 100th Test.
