New Delhi: Mohammed Shami did get an early breakthrough in the form of Markram to pull India back into the match after the visitors were bowled out for 202 but Elgar and Petersen batted with patience in the final hour of last session to ensure India does not get big boost with another wicket ahead of Day 2.

South Africa's Olivier, Jansen and Rabada starred with the bowl as the fast-bowling trio came up with a clinical bowling perfromance to restrict India to 202/10 in their 1st innings on Day 1 of the India vs South Africa 2nd Test in Johannesburg on Monday. For Proteas, Marco Jansen, palying his debut Test series, was the pick of bowlers as he ended up taking four Indian wickets.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, India were off to a good and steady start but as the innings progressed, none of the batters were able to carry on to play a big knock. India had a few partnerships throught their innings.

Apart from stand-in-skipper scoring a hard-fought fifty and tail-ender R Ashwin's quick 46, none of the Indian batters were able to contribute with anything substantial.

Team India's experience batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane's flop show with the bat continued. Rahane got out for a Golden Duck for the very first time in his career, while Pujara managed to score just 3 runs off 33 balls.
