New Delhi: Team India's newly-appointed T20 skipper Rohit Sharma scripted history on Sunday during Ind vs NZ third T20 International being played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Rohit, who scored his 2nd consecutive fifty in the ongoing three-match T20 series, broke Virat Kohli' big T20 record to become the first-ever Indian batsman to an incredible feat.


Among Indian batsmen, Rohit now holds the record for scoring the maximum fifty-plus scores in T20I cricket. He achieved this feat in his 119th T20 International match. Rohit completed his fifty off just 28 balls. The legendary opening batsman scored his 26th fifty by hitting a six.


Earlier this record was jointly held by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Babar Azam is at number three in this list, as he has scored 25 fifty-plus in T20 cricket. David Warner has scored 50 -plus runs 22 times in the shortest format.


Coming back to Ind vs NZ 3rd T20I, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by spinner Ish Sodhi after scoring 56 runs off just 31 balls with help of 3 sixes and 5 fours. After opting to bat first, India managed to set a 185-run target against the visitors.


Team India has made two changes in its playing XI in today's match. KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin have been rested as Ishan Kishan and Yuzvendra Chahal replaced them in India's playing XI.


Team India is leading 2-0 in the three-match T20I series. The hosts won the series opener by 5 wickets. After this, in the second T20 match played in Ranchi, India defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets to seal series.
