New Delhi: Umran Malik's dream of representing his country in international cricket came true on Sunday. The sensational pace bowler from Jammu and Kashmir received his debut cap from senior Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar ahead of the 1st T20 International between India and Ireland in Dublin. Umran, who was benched for the entire T20 series between India and South Africa, has become the 98th player from India to debut in T20 International cricket. 


Umran has been rewarded for his strong performance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir bagged 22 wickets in the 15th season of the tournament. With his debut, Umran has become the second played from Jammu and Kashmir to play international cricket for the Indian cricket team.


Pravez Rasool was the first ever cricketer from J& K to play for India. He played one ODI and T20I each for India against Bangladesh and England respectively.
