The next few days are most likely going to be memorable for Test specialist Ajinkya Rahane, who emerged as a great captain by leading the Indian cricket team to a historical win in the Test series against Australia. A four-match Test series is to be played between India and England in February-March.

Ajinkya Rahane was the only Indian to score a century in the recently played Test series between India and Australia. With the help of his century, India equaled the series by winning the second Test in Melbourne. India ultimately won the four-match Test series 2–1 vs Australia.


During the India vs England Test series, Ajinkya Rahane will have a chance to surpass former team India captain MS Dhoni in terms of most Test runs scored. The first Test of the Ind vs Eng Test series is slated to be played in Chennai from 5 February.


32-year-old Ajinkya Rahane has played 69 Test matches so far. He has so far scored 4471 runs in these matches at an average of 42.58. It also includes 12 centuries. If Rahane manages to score 406 runs in the 4-match series against England, he will surpass MS Dhoni. Dhoni has scored 4876 runs in 90 Tests at an average of 38.09, which included 6 Test centuries.


In his 8-year-long Test career, Ajinkya Rahane has scored 12 centuries. If Rahane scores a single century against England, then he will surpass Polly Umrigar and Murali Vijay in terms of maximum Tons in Test cricket. Both Umrigar and Vijay have scored 12 Test centuries each in Tests. If Rahane scores 2 centuries during the India-England series, he will equal Gundappa Vishwanath's record (14 Test tons).
