Ind vs Eng: The pink-ball Test in Ahmedabad rushed to a finish after magical bowling spell from spinners Axar Patel (5/32) and Ravichandran Ashwin (4/48), and a hard-fought 66-run knock from Rohit Sharma powered India to a 10-wicket win over England in the Narendra Modi Stadium and go 2-1 up in the four-match Test series. An all-round performance from Virat & Co. saw Ind vs Eng Motera Test get wrap up on Day 2 itself.    

 

After leading by 33 runs in the first innings, India restricted England for just 81 runs in second innings to set a 49-run target to win Ind vs Eng 3rd Test. National hero Ben Stokes (25) was the highest run-scorer for England in their second innings. Joe Root and Oli Pope scored 19 and 12 runs respectively. Apart from these three, none of the English batters could score in double figures.

 


 

Earlier in the day, English skipper Joe Root's maiden 5-wicket haul saw India getting all-out for 145 after starting the day's play at 98/3.

 

The visitors were bundled up for just 81 runs on Day 2. For India, spinner Akshar Patel bagged five wickets, and veteran R Ashwin took four wickets.

 

Ashwin has become India's fourth bowler to take 400 wickets in Tests. Akshar Patel, who is playing his second Test and maiden Test series, has completed his first-ever 10-wicket match haul.

 

Today, England scored their second lowest score in Test cricket history as they could score just 193 runs in both innings. Before this, England had scored 175 runs (93 and 82 runs) against New Zealand in 1983/84.
