The players of England cricket team were seen wearing black armbands in the Ind vs Eng 1st Test. The players have tied the black armbands in honor of war veteran Sir Tom Moore, former captain of the British Army, who played an important role in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. Moore died aged 100, earlier this week.
Sir Tom Moore was born in 1920 in Kigali, a village in Yorkshire. At the age of just 20, he joined the British Army. Moore served in the military in India and Burma, joining the Eighth Battalion of the Duke of Wellington Regiment during World War II.
The second year after joining the army, Moore was promoted as a second lieutenant and became a member of the Royal Armed Corps and was posted to India. In India, he trained his fellow soldiers in tank warfare and motorcycling.
