New Delhi: Rishabh Pant gave a stern reply to the critics with his scintillating century on Day 1 of Ind vs Eng 5th Test. Pant came out to bat at a time when India lost three wickets for 64 runs. Soon after his arrival, India faced another setback by losing wickets of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer in no time. Pant then led India's fight back by playing his natural game. After playing a few deliveries, Pant played his natural attacking game and after playing a few deliveries, he quickly changed gears to notch up a quick fifty, later a scintillating ton. Pant completed the fifth Test century of his career in 89 balls with the help of 16 fours and 1 six.

Former India captain Virat Kohli, head coach Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Siraj and Mayank Agarwal all were seen applauding and cheering for Pant from the dressing room when he completed his century. The video of Indian dressing room celebration has gone viral on social media. Notably, Rahul Dravid, who usually remains calm and composed in any situation, gave an animated reaction while celebrating Pant's heroics.

Rishabh Pant's innings was ended by former England captain Joe Root. He got Pant caught at first slip by Jack Crowley. The star Indian wicket-keeper was dismissed after scoring 146 runs in 111 balls, hitting 20 fours and 4 sixes in his innings.

During his innings, 24-year-old Rishabh Pant became the youngest Indian cricketer to hit 100 sixes in international cricket. Before Pant, Sachin Tendulkar was the youngest Indian batsman to hit 100 sixes in international cricket. The 'Master Blaster' had attained this feat at the age of 25. Former India star Suresh Raina is in third place in this list, having done it in 25 years and 7 days.
