New Delhi: Things got pretty heated up on Day 3 of the ongoing India vs England 1st Test in Edgbaston. Ex-India skipper Virat Kohli was involved in a heated altercation with Jonny Bairstow during the match. It was not exactly clear what was Kohli trying to say to the English batter but Ben Stokes and the on-field umpires had to intervene to settle the issue. Bairstow even tried to calm things down by giving a pat on Virat's back but he did not hold back as he even kept on saying something to the batter from the slip cordon. The hosts were in a spot of bother after losing quick wickets, reeling at 84 for 5 on a rain-hit day. England's all hopes lie on Jonny Bairstow as the batter was in exceptional form against New Zealand in the recently-concluded Test series.

Bairstow was instrumental in England's victory against New Zealand. He scored a total of 377 runs in four innings with two centuries and an unbeaten 71. He has now  scored a half-century in the fifth test match against India.
