Virat Kohli had scored a fifty against Pakistan, while Rohit, so far, has not been able to showcase anything special with the bat in this World Cup. Rohit was dropped down the batting order at number three spot in India's match against New Zealand, but against Afghanistan, he might open once again. If this happens, Virat will surely return to bat at number three.
In India's last match against New Zealand, Virat Kohli had come to bat at number four. Suryakumar Yadav was not fit in the last match and was replaced by Ishan Kishan in India's playing XI. Ishan and KL Rahul had opened the innings for India against Kiwis. It is believed that Surya might return to the playing XI against Afghanistan, while Ishan Kishan might be benched.
India has lost its first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets and New Zealand by 8 wickets. If India loses against Afghanistan, it will be out of the tournament and even if it wins, their fate of making it to the semis, lies in the hands of others.
