New Delhi: India took back the top spot in the ICC rankings after winning the two-match series against New Zealand in the ongoing World Test Champions. On the WTC table, India is third with 42 points and a win percentage of 58.33.
Just on Day 4, India defeated New Zealand by a whopping margin of 370 runs. India had lost to New Zealand in the World Test Championship final in June.
The Virat Kohli-led side now has 124 rating points and is followed by New Zealand (121), Australia (108), England (107), Pakistan (92), South Africa (88), Sri Lanka (83), West Indies (75), Bangladesh (49) and Zimbabwe (31).
On Day 4, India needed 5 wickets to win the Test, Jayant Yadav picked 4 of them, while Ashwin picked the last wicket of the match by stumping Nicholls. The Kiwis were all out within an hour of play on Day 4 of the Test match. Nine out of the 10 wickets were picked by Indian spinners in the 4th innings, the remaining wicket was a runout.
The NZ batsmen displayed an ordinary performance with the bat in both their innings. They were not able to handle the spinning deliveries at the Wankhede Stadium. This Test match win would mean that India also wins the series against New Zealand and further improve their position in the World Test Championship (WTC) table.
Sri Lanka lead the standings with two wins in as many games and Pakistan are second with a win percentage of 66.66
