India Lawn Bowls Commonwealth Games 2022: The Indian women's Lawn Bowl team secured a historic maiden medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham by defeating New Zealand 16-13 in the semi-finals of the Women's Fours (team of four players) event on Monday. India's Lawn Bowl Women's Four team has become the first-ever Indian team to reach the Finals of the Commonwealth Games. The Indian quartet, consisting of Lovely Choubey (Lead), Pinky (Second), Nayanmoni Sekia (third), and Rupa Rani Tirkey (Skip) will take on South Africa in a gold medal bout on Tuesday.






Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media in which the women's team can be seen getting emotional upon their historic win against New Zealand in the semifinal.

The Indian team made a strong comeback against New Zealand after 0-5 trail after the second leg. After the ninth leg, both the teams were tied at 7-7, while after the 10th leg, India took a 10-7 lead. In a close match, New Zealand was able to take a marginal lead of 13-12 after the 14th leg. After this, India won the match with a score of 16-13, courtesy of a brilliant shot from Rupa Rani.
