New Delhi [India], Feb 22 (ANI): India and Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sports in the national capital on Thursday.
The MoU was signed by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Canadian Minister for Science and Sports Kirsty Duncan.
After signing the MoU, Rathore told ANI, "There is a lot to learn from Canada, not just in terms of culture but in bringing the two persons, two nations together and sports can play a very active role."
The Olympian added, "Canada is brilliant in Winter Olympics, so it is something we need to learn from them. There an academic part in terms of sports education is also something we seek help in. We have had a wonderful meeting with the minister and I am sure there will be a lot of active participation with each other."
Meanwhile, Duncan appreciated the meeting with Rathore and said the two had some wonderful discussion.
"We are very pleased to sign the Memorandum of Understanding to talk about integrity in sports as well as using sports to succeed on sustainable development goals," Duncan said.
The Canadian minister added, "We are so proud to be in India. It is not a partnership; it is a friendship between Canada and India. We see the possibilities of exchanges in sports. We are very much looking forward to working together."(ANI)
