New Delhi: A superb half-century from Lendl Simmons (67* off 45) and a fiery knock from Nicholas Pooran in a must-win game powered West Indies to 8-wickets win against team India and level the series 1-1in the second T20I at the Greenfield Stadium on Sunday.

A thriller of a decider awaits both the teams with the final T20I to be played at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Batting first, Young all-rounder Shivam Dube’s maiden fifty and an important cameo from wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant helped team India post 170/7 against West Indies. With a 1-0 series lead against Windies, the Indian bowling attack looked to get a series-win in the three-match T20I series.


Windies openers got off to a great start. After a few dropped catches, Evin Lewis turned on the accelerator and did not hesitate from swinging the bat hard on almost every ball. Washington Sundar got the much-needed wicket of Lewis for 40 off 34 balls.

The spinner totally bamboozled Lewis and Pant did the rest by dismantling the stumps quickly behind the wicket to give India its first wicket. Windies need 96 more runs in 59 balls to level the series.

Skipper Virat Kohli took an absolute sensational catch to get rid of dangerous looking Hetmyer off Ravindra Jadeja's delivery. Kohli ran to his right from long-on and stretched as much as he could to grab a diving + sliding catch with his both hands. The skipper lost balance and fell on ground while completing the catch but somehow managed to keep him from touching the boundary rope.

In the end, the Indian bowlers failed defend their 170-run total as Lendl, who was in superb touch , scores his 2nd half-century (6th overall) against his favourite opponents.
