New Delhi: India will be locking horns with South Africa in 3-match ODI series with the first match scheduled to be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in Dharamshala on Sunday.
Hosts India come into the series against the Proteas on the back receiving a humiliating 0-3 whitewash against the Kiwis. South Africa on the other hand would be high on confidence after trouncing a much more fancied opponent in Australia in their last ODI engagement. While India are ranked second in the ICC ODI rankings despite their crushing loss to the Kiwis, 4th-ranked ODI side South Africa which had a bit of a downfall after the retirement of a couple of their stalwarts are re-grouping under the aegis of their new skipper Quinton De Kock. South Africa last toured India to feature in three-match Test and T2OI series last year in September-October. India won the Test series comprehensively by 3-nil and shared the T20I series at 1-1, with a match being washed out. India do have the edge over South in the 28 ODIs played between the two cricketing nations on Indian soil. In the last five encounters played between the two sides, India have come out winners in four of them including their winning the round robin fixture at the ICC 2019 World Cup in England by 6 wickets.
