New Delhi: Team India got off to a poor start on Day 4 of the India vs South Africa 1st Test being played in Centurion. The visitors lost an early wicket on the fourth day in form of Shardul Thakur.

After the early dismissal of Mayank Agarwal in the last session of day 3, Shardul Thakur came out to bat at number 3 as the nightwatchman ahead of Cheteshwar Pujara.

Shardul's role was to play out the last few remaining balls of the day and he did well by remaining unbeaten to take the team to 16/1 at stumps.

Moments after the fourth day's play started, Shardul Thakur was dismissed for 10 runs by Kagiso Rabada with Wiaan Mulder completing a good catch in the cordon.

Meanwhile, controversy erupted after a picture went viral on social media, in which Rabada can be seen overstepping and that the delivery on which Shardul got out was a no-ball.

The viral pic indicates that the third umpire failed to spot that it was a no-ball.

Coming back to the match, India were bundled up for 174 runs in their second innings. South Africa now need 305 runs to win the Ind vs SA 1st Test to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series.

Talking about Shardul's Test career, the star all-rounder completed 200 Test runs in the year 2021 with help of three fifties. During this, his average was 33.33.

When Shardul got out for 10 on Day 4 of Ind vs SA 1st Test, it was the first time in his last eight Test innings that he crossed the two-digit mark while batting and scored less than 57 runs.
