Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque elected to bat first after winning the toss in the first pink ball Test between India and Bangladesh at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium as the much-awaited historic event got underway on Friday.

The iconic Eden gardens witnessed a massive crowd on the opening day of the D/N Test, including a number of renowned celebrities, politicians and sports stars.

To mark the special occasion, all the iconic spots of Kolkata turned pink. Glimpses of pink colour were seen across ‘the city of joy’ to attract the crowd to the nations’ maiden pink-ball Test.

Famous tourist spots in Kolkata like the Big Ben on Laketown, Howrah Bridge, Tata Centre, the Elliot Park and Shahid Minar were decked in pink to mark the occasion.

Former Bengal Cricket Boss and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter to post some pictures of the beautiful decorated spots.
