Virat Kohli-led Team India extended their winning juggernaut to nine matches in T20 internationals as they inflicted a six wicket defeat on hosts Australia in the 2nd T20 internationals at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) and wrap up the 3-match series 2-0.

India's series win over Australia was their fifth on the trot and extended their unbeaten run in the shortest format to almost a year, having not lost any T20 game at the international level since December last year.

India had beaten Bangladesh (2-1), beaten West Indies (2-1), blanked Sri Lanka (2-0), trounced New Zealand (5-0) and now look to clean sweep Australia in their backyard with a win in the third T20 international at SCG on Dec 8.

India's second T20I series win against Australia 'Down Under' meant that Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain to lead the team to a series win across all formats in Australia.

Kohli became the second skipper after South African skipper Faf du Plessis to lead a team to series wins in all 3 formats in Australia. Under Kohli's captaincy India clinched a historic Test series win in 2018-19 following which they beat the Aussies in the ODI series as well.

Virat Kohli also became the first Indian skipper to win T20I series in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia, popularly known as the (SENA nations). It is notable that MS Dhoni had captained India to T20 series wins in South Africa and Australia but wins in England and New Zealand eluded him as a skipper.

Under Kohli's leadership India beat South Africa (2-1) and England (2-1) in 2019.They trounced New Zealand 5-0 earlier this year and have now registered a series win with a 2-0 unassailable lead over Australia in the ongoing 3-match T20 series on their home turf.

Virat Kohli is the second most successful T20I skipper behind the legendary MS Dhoni in terms of most wins under his captaincy. Kohli has led India to 24 wins in 39 T20I games. Dhoni who skippered 'Men In Blue' in 72 T20Is, holds the record for most wins as T20I skipper with 41 wins under his belt.
