Indian cricket team clinched their second ever T20 international series against Australia as the visitors beat the hosts 2-1 in the 3-match series despite the 'Men In Blue' losing the third encounter at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) played on Tuesday (Dec 8)


India fell short by 12 runs chasing a competitive 187-run target set by the Australians at Sydney and were rendered their first defeat in the shortest format in the 2020 season.

Chasing a challenging 187-run target, India's chase was once again spearheaded by their skipper Virat Kohli who top scored with a quick-fire 85 run knock and almost took India to the brink of a third straight win.

Kohli achieved a major milestone in the 3rd T20I at SCG as he became only the second Indian batsman to register 3000 runs in Australia. 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar was the first batsman to achieve the landmark against the 'Aussies', an opposition he always cherished playing against them.

Kohli once again proved to be the in the middle order in the white ball leg of the tour. While the prolific run scorer amassed 173 runs against Finch-led Australia in the ODI series, he continued his good form with the bat in the T20I series ending up as India's highest run scorer with 134 runs.

Kohli now leads the run scoring charts by an Indian batsman in Australia in international cricket with 3,052 runs. In Australia, Kohli has amassed 1,274 runs in Tests, 1,327 in ODIs, and 451 in T20Is.

Sachin Tendulkar aggregated 1,809 runs in red-ball cricket in Australia, while he notched up 1,491 runs came in ODI matches 'Down Under'. The batting great never played a T20I against Australia.
