New Delhi: Wrestler-turned politician Babita Phogat slammed critics two days after her controversial tweet on Tablighi Jamaat created an uproar on social media. On Wednesday, the commonwealth gold medalist had tweeted in Hindi that 'Jamaati' is a bigger problem than the coronavirus outbreak in India.


Some twitter users demanded that Phogat's account should be suspended for the hateful tweet as #SuspendBabitaPhogat trended today morning, however, some users on the microblogging site supported Babita as they countered the trend with hashtag- "#ISupportBabitaPhogat".


Recently, Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut's sister Rangoli Chandel's twitter account was suspended after she posted a controversial tweet to target the Tablighi Jamaat group.

Babita Phogat also defended Rangoli Chandel's tweet, saying Twitter is angry with those who speak the truth.


Reaction on her controversial tweet, Babita said she stood by what she has tweeted. "I stand by my tweets, I wrote nothing wrong," she told ANI.

In a video posted on Twitter, she said: "Over the past few days, I posted a few tweets (on Tablighi Jamaat). After that, I started getting threats on my social media handles. I would like to say that I am no Zaira Wasim. I would not get threatened.... I have always fought for my country. I stand by my tweets.... I wrote nothing wrong.”
