New Delhi: England defeated Sri Lanka by 26 runs to secure a place in the semi-finals by securing their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. While the Sri Lankan team is out of the tournament with the third defeat. The hero of England's victory was Jos Buttler, who played an unbeaten 101-run knock to power England to a big total.


Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl. Batting first, England had given a target of 164 runs, in response to which Sri Lanka were all out for 137 runs in 19 overs. Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan took 2 wickets for England. While Liam Livingstone and Chris Woakes bagged one wicket apiece.


Chasing the target of 164 runs, Sri Lanka had a very poor start and lost the first wicket on just 1 run. Opener Pathum Nisanka could only score 1 run.  Sri Lanka's second wicket fell for 24 runs when Charit Aslanka returned back to the pavilion after scoring 21 runs.


After this, Kusal Perera was dismissed after scoring 7 runs. Avishka Fernando scored 13 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa then steadied Lanka's innings by scoring 26 runs. In the end, Wanindu Hasaranga and captain Dasun Shanaka batted vigorously, but Hasaranga was dismissed after scoring 34 runs. After this, Shanaka got run out for 26 runs. Sri Lanka eventually got all out for 137 runs in 19 overs.
