New Delhi: Ahead of the T20 World Cup, International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday released the official anthem for the marquee event, scheduled to be played in UAE and Oman. The anthem has been composed by famous Bollywood music composer and singer Amit Trivedi.

The T20 World Cup is set to start  from October 17 and the final match of the tournament will be played on November 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Team India is being considered as a strong contender for the title this year.

ICC took to social media to share video of the official anthem via its Twitter handle, in which Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli, West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard and some other star cricketers like Rashid Khan and Glenn Maxwell are seen in animated avatars.

ICC has named this anthem 'LIVE THE GAME'. In the video, captain Virat Kohli can be seen taking a brilliant catch.  After the launch of the anthem, Amit Trivedi told Star Sports, "Cricket has always been my favorite game and I consider myself lucky that I got an opportunity to compose the anthem of the T20 World Cup."

The T20 World was earlier slated to take place in India, but due to spurt of Coronavirus cases in the country, ICC decided to shift the mega-event to UAE and Oman.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament. A total of 8 countries, including India, have made their place directly in the Super 12 on the basis of ranking, while the remaining four teams will win the qualifiers to confirm their places.

India has been placed in Group B of the T20 World Cup, which, apart from Team India, includes Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan. Under Virat Kohli's captaincy, team India will play its first match against Pakistan on October 24.
