In the men's skeet team event at the ongoing Asian Games 2023, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Gurjoat Singh Khangura, and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka clinched the bronze medal at Hangzhou after scoring a combined 355. The 25-year-old Anant Jeet Singh Naruka also made his way into the men's individual skeet final after qualifying fourth. The women's skeet events, on the other hand, did not witness any Indians make the individual final or win a team medal. China who is hosting the Asian Games, ended up winning the gold medal while Qatar claimed the silver.
"Remarkable display of skill and teamwork. The Skeet Men's Team secures the BRONZE MEDAL. Their precision shooting has earned a place on the podium, and we couldn't be prouder!", tweeted SAI Media.
Apart from men, Indian shooter Sift Kaur Samra won the gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions women's individual final by a huge 7.3 points at the Asian Games 2023. The 22-year-old shooter collected a total of 469.6 points to shatter the world record in the event. Another Indian shooter Ashi Chouksey had to settle for a bronze medal with 451.9 points. She was competing for a silver medal but then lost to China's Zhang Qiongyue in the standing elimination round at Hangzhou.
This was Sift and Ashi's second medal of the day. Both the shooters alongside Manini Kaushik grabbed the silver medal in the team event earlier in the day with a score of 1764. China ended up winning gold. Earlier, Sift clinched bronze medals in the ISSF World Cup in 2023 and 2022. She only had gold that she won back in the junior cup in 2022.
